Trinity Talks return after a summer break with a talk by Becky Haghpanah-Shirwan on Cultural Terror – Delivering Impossible Projects in the Art World on Monday 19 September.

Her talk introduces the work of a/political – a unique organisation collaborating with politically engaged artists and agitators who undermine the dominant narratives of our time.  From Anarchy at the Poles, to a Museum of Trump branded objects, Becky takes you through a journey of difficult and dangerous projects delivered by way of interventions, commissions and a collection of modern and contemporary art.

Becky studied Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art, completing her MPhil at Bristol University.  She then entered the commercial art world through galleries and Sotheby’s and at the age of 26, became the founding Director of the commissioning non-profit Art organisation a/political.  There she built the world’s only socio-political art collection, comprising over 500 Modern and Contemporary works.  Impossible projects she has led have featured in leading publications such as the New York Times and the Washington Post.

She has also curated numerous exhibitions and written for both museum catalogues and magazine publications.   In 2021 she launched the a/political record label with Hip Hop legend Lowkey and set up the Charity Blessed, collaborating with the WHO on art as a regenerative force, interviewing Libertines front man Pete Doherty, amongst others.

The Talks are held at Bel and The Dragon in Cookham High Street on the third Monday of the month (usually) and celebrate the talents of people living in Cookham and its environs.  These are fund-raising events for Holy Trinity Church.

Everyone is welcome, but capacity is limited and it is advisable to check in advance.  Places at £20 each can be reserved by email (stephaniediggon@hotmail.com) or by phone on 01628 527465.  Pay cash on arrival from 6.30pm at Bel and The Dragon for Prosecco and canapés, the talk starts at 7pm and finishes around 8pm.

Visit our Facebook page and YouTube channel so that you can pray and worship with us at home and catch up with the latest news in Pew News.   In addition you can access our backlog of music recordings on our Online Music page.
