The Ladies Group began over fifty years ago as the Young Wives but time marches on and the “Young” and “Wives” were replaced by “Ladies” although husbands and visitors are always welcome.
The ladies Group meet at 2:30 on the fourth Wednesday of the month in the Briggs room of the Parish Centre, from April to August. After the meeting tea and biscuits are served and there is an opportunity to chat and socialise-we are very good at that!
There is no annual charge at present but it’s £3 per meeting and we do welcome friends, spouses and visitors.
In May we usually organise an outing. A standing joke at our meeting if “There is a list…” and many of the ladies get involved in providing refreshments for fund raising activities such as the Christian Aid Super Soup lunch amongst others.
Our May meeting this year will be on May 25th, when finally we get to welcome Nigel Smales on The Rise and Fall of Skindles. What mysteries will be unfurled about that fascinating building on the bank of the Thames at Maidenhead bridge. What tales could it tell? Do come along and find out.
