DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome back the world renowned organist and conductor Paul Leddington Wright (Organist Emeritus of Coventry Cathedral). \nHe entertained a packed church in 2019 and Cookham Festival is delighted to be working with St. John the Baptist church to celebrate the “90th anniversary of their organ”. \nAmong the works Paul will play at this concert are: – Toccata & Fugue in D minor JS Bach and Enigma Variations selection E Elgar. \nTickets are priced £12 each for early booking before 1st June. After 1st June tickets are £15 each. \n

DESCRIPTION:Mike Bryan will be talking about the famous World Heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall but also wax about the other great Roman frontier sites in Britain such as the Antonine Wall and the Forts of the Saxon Shore that might be less well known but are equally impressive. \nIt was quite a job keeping the ancient Britons under control and amazingly a substantial amount of the military infrastructure is still there to be seen. \nMike has had a long career in publishing including 32 years at iconic publisher Penguin Books. Most recently he was CEO of Penguin Books India and President of Penguin Books Canada. He is currently Managing Director of The Baker Street Press and a director of the Buckingham Literary Festival. He is an enthusiastic historian of all things Roman.
